According to the National Statistical Institute, the average gross salary for the month of September increased by 5.55% and reached BGN 1 787. Monthly wages year-on-year for the country have an increase of 15.81%.
This growth cannot yet reach inflation, which is 18.7% in September 2022.
The economic activities with the highest average monthly remuneration are “Creation and distribution of information and creative products; telecommunications” – BGN 4 191, “Production and distribution of electricity, heat and gaseous fuels” – BGN 2 554, “Financial and insurance activities” – BGN 2 533.
The lowest paid were those employed in hotels and restaurants – BGN 940; water supply; sewerage services, waste management – BGN 1,150.
By economic activity, the largest relative share of employees under employment and service contracts was in “Manufacturing” and “Trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles” – 20.7 and 16.9%, respectively.
In the third quarter of 2022, the average monthly wage in the public sector increased by 12.5% and in the private sector by 15.4%.
