Projects worth €204 million granted by the EC
Projects worth €204 million are being launched by the European Commission. The aim is to strengthen the implementation of innovative technologies and accelerate the digital transformation of the European economy.
The new initiatives focus on strategic areas. These include artificial intelligence, big data, cybersecurity, digital skills, and the development of infrastructure for digital innovation. This is another step towards building a competitive and technologically independent Europe.
Key highlights of the new calls
The first open call, worth €15 million, aims to accelerate the development of the European Digital Identity Wallet and mobile driving licenses—a project that will enable citizens to identify themselves securely online and offline across the EU.
From November 4, eight more calls will be opened, targeting key areas of the digital economy:
- €87.2 million to expand and complete the network of European Digital Innovation Hubs that support businesses in their digitalization process.
- €22.5 million to advance personalized healthcare through the European Genome Data Infrastructure. €14.4 million to deploy AI solutions in medical imaging.
- €9 million for initiatives promoting industrial data sharing across sectors.
- €4.5 million to set up a secretariat and cooperation platform for the European Alliance for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, which will support innovation in the automotive industry.
- €6 million for the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) centers – an effort to combat disinformation and increase media literacy.
Political framework and strategic importance
The publication of the new calls for proposals is part of the updated Digital Media Work Program 2025–2027, which aims to adapt more flexibly to rapidly evolving technologies. With it, the European Commission confirms its commitment to invest in areas with high growth potential and public impact.
Projects worth €204 million – What does this mean for business?
For companies in the EU – including Bulgarian ones – this is an opportunity to engage in transformative partnerships. This will enable them to implement new digital solutions, improve their competitiveness, and participate in the creation of a pan-European digital market.
The Digital Europe program lays the foundations for a long-term digital ecosystem. In it, business, science, and the public sector work together for a smarter and more sustainable economy. Find more information on the EU portal for funding and tenders.
