How do we update our Linkedin profile and how will it help us find a job?

| Reading Time: 2 Min

We’ve all been following the great development of Linkedin in recent years, and how it actually works.

In order to find a job through LinkedIn it is important to stand out in some way. We can try more sophisticated or simpler ways. We suggest the simpler solutions, but realistically we can do a whole structure of all our previous positions or add videos (links) and a large amount of material about our previous positions and experience.

If we don’t have a lot of experience with visual materials and expressive tools that can help our partners and prospective clients/employers get to know us, then it’s important to have some sort of base to stand on.

Create or update your profile:

Make sure your LinkedIn profile is complete and up-to-date with photos and information, with all of your professional skills (Linkedin allows us to choose from skills set on the platform itself), experience and education included. The idea is to create a clear picture of where we stand as individuals professionally.

Set your goal:

Figure out what kind of work (clients, information reps if you’re a company) and career advancement you’re looking for. Determine what your preferences are in terms of location, industry and companies.

Use a job search engine:

Use LinkedIn’s “Jobs” feature to search for jobs by keywords, location, and other filters.

Set up your notifications to get alerts about new listings that match your criteria.

Visit companies and job sites:

Many companies post job openings on their LinkedIn page.

Follow companies:

Browse companies you’re interested in and follow their listings

If they have job openings that interest you, submit a CW directly through LinkedIn.

Create an up-to-date resume:

Make a professional and up-to-date resume and upload it to your profile.

Describe your key skills and accomplishments (this is an option from Linkedin)

Participate in groups and discussions:

Join professional groups and communities where you can share knowledge and participate in discussions.

This can connect you with people who have an interest in your field of work.

Follow interesting people and companies:

Follow influencers and companies in your field and industry. They can share information about job opportunities.
Be active:
Regularly update your LinkedIn profile, comment and share articles and information that is interesting to you.

Prepare for an Interview:

When you receive an invitation for an interview/meeting, be prepared to present yourself and your skills to the best of your ability. With a smile and proactivity.

Remember, finding a job through LinkedIn (and more) takes time and effort. Persistence and active participation in your network can help you achieve everything you’ve dreamed of.
