Last chance for filing a tax declaration with a 5% discount

| Reading Time: 2 Min

Only until the end of the month the citizens in Bulgaria will have the opportunity to benefit from a 5% relief on their annual tax return, the National Revenue Agency (NRA) reminds. To benefit from this deduction, citizens must file their tax returns electronically by April 1. Since March 31 falls on a Sunday, taxpayers are encouraged to file their full tax assessment by that date to take advantage of the deduction and avoid possible enforcement action, stressed the NRA, which advises consumers to check online for outstanding debts.

How?

Filing and payment obligations are quick and easy through the NRA’s e-services portal, accessible via a free NRA-issued personal identification code (PIC) or qualified electronic signature (QES).

Taxpayers can conveniently use online pre-filled tax returns. These declarations include data on income from employment, civil contracts, rental income from property leased to legal entities, subsidies received from the State Fund for Agriculture.

It is also necessary to declare data on personal pension contributions, income from online sales, information on the sale of vehicles owned by the declarant for less than 12 months, as well as data on tax benefits enjoyed through employers. Taxpayers are advised by the NRA to carefully review their returns before completing them, completing or correcting where necessary.

When and where?

The deadline for filing income tax returns and paying income tax is 30 April 2024. In addition to electronic filing, tax returns can also be filed by mail, submitted in person at NRA offices or designated post offices, where an entry number is issued immediately.
